Welcome to Northwest Spoon!
Hello foodie friends. I’m Michelle. Welcome to my kitchen. Here I share fresh, wholesome recipes with a Pacific Northwest twist. Cooking is one way I express my creativity. I believe sharing a good meal with family and friends brings us closer together. It is my hope that these recipes will inspire you to cook fresh too.
On Northwest Spoon, you will find a wide range of recipes with a focus on using fresh ingredients and avoiding processed foods. Whether you are a seasoned cook or just starting out, there is something for everyone. In addition to Northwest cuisine, my specialties include recipes of the Mediterranean diet and healthier American classics. You will find the recipes on this site to be well tested and achievable.
More about my journey in the kitchen
I’ve always enjoyed cooking, but I found my inner chef when I lived in Southern Italy with my family. While living in Italy, I gained a real appreciation for what it means to eat local and cook with only a few wholesome ingredients. While there, I completed culinary classes in the Amalfi Coast and in Tuscany. I have also achieved both a beginning and an advanced culinary certificate from the Bon Vivant School of Cooking in Seattle. I now apply what I learned from these experiences to preparing my favorite dishes using the bounty of fresh Northwest ingredients. I have also taught small hands-on cooking classes and enjoy sharing my experiences with those who are interested in learning about cuisine.
